My University

University of Antioquia: it was created in 1803. It is one of the most prestigious in Colombia.In addition to these sites is necessary to name Building San Ignacio, historic seat of the University of Antioquia. Universidad de Antioquia

 Offers a total of 86 undergraduate programs at its headquarters located in the city of Medellin and its regional offices. And 121 graduate degrees, including majors, masters and doctorates. It has about 1,200 full-time faculty, about 280 teachers and 1,600 occasional chair, providing educational services to more  28,000 students. It has 143 research groups in diverse branches of science, of which 30 have reached the status of excellence and advances in research have been recognizedat national and international levels. The University created the first School of Arts and Crafts in the country, the first botanic garden in the region and the first cultural radio station in Latin America.

University Research Building:
 is an advanced project created by the University of Antioquia to promote a qualitative and quantitative transformation of its research system. Through the SIU, the University plans to contribute to the knowledge society by making research, innovation and technological development pillars for the construction of a fairer and more competitive Colombia. Within the SIU there are currently 36 research groups of excellence,working in diverse areas such as biotechnology, chemistry, materials science, genetics, environment, immunology, infectious and tropical diseases, among others. All of these groups carry out high quality research that contributes to the status of the University of Antioquia as a research university.

Noted People:  The university, in its more than 200 years of history, has had among its rectors, faculty, and alumni, many notable persons, including Presidents, Governors of Antioquia, and Senators. Also, several Writers and Artists.

Information: The University of Antioquia is adorned with artistic features and expressions, the campus is home to such works as Rodrigo Arenas Betancur’s sculpture “Man, Creator of Energy”, a mural painted by the famous artist Pedro Nel Gomez as well as other sculptures created by Enrique Grau and Ana Mercedes intermixed among the tree laden grounds of this astute learning center. The University of Antioquia also operates several satellite campuses including their Health Sciences College located near the San Vicente

University of Antioquia Museum
Founded in 1942, this museum stands just at the heart of the University of Antioquia campus north of downtown Medellin. It is one of the most frequently visited museums in the city, especially by students, since it gathers and holds approximately 40,000 pieces related to visual arts, natural science, history and anthropology. The museum also plays host to art exhibitions and musicals/plays at its concert halls
